Mary Hirschmann – Psychotherapist & Counsellor
BSW, AMHSW, MAASW, AMSPSW
Mary Hirschmann has a background in general and paediatric nursing, psychology and social work. She has worked both in the private and public sectors of health and welfare.
Mary has over 30 years’ experience working as a therapist, educator, supervisor and consultant.
Mary has worked as a clinician at the Wellness Centre since it was established in 2006. She is also contracted by the Augusta Margaret River Shire to provide counselling support to employees.
Mary’s particular skills are in:
- psychodynamic psychotherapy
- crisis intervention
- individual, family and relationship counselling
- trauma counselling
- brief, solution focussed interventions
She also has considerable experience working with people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Her interests are working with people to resolve issues such as depression, the range of anxiety/stress related conditions, suicidal ideation/behaviour, self- harming behaviour, perinatal mental health, relationship difficulties, general traumatic life experiences, and loss and grief work.
